The New BEGINNINGS PROGRAM proves grant
funds for rehabilitation or preplacement of homes for
the elderly or families with special needs,currently
living in substandard living conditions.
To be eligible for the New Beginings Program,
applicants must meet all the following criteria:
Applicants must own their own home in McAllen,
free of any liens.
Applicants must have lived in the City of McAllen
for at least 1 year.
All property taxes must be current.
Applicant's total family income must not exceed
the HUD income requirements. (Contact our offices
for more details.)
To qualify for rehabilitation or replacement, the
home must be considered substandard. Only repairs
to bring the home up to standard will be considered.
Families must be elderly, 60 years or more, and/
or have a physical or mental disability or otherwise
provide proof of special needs.
