Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI), in its capacity as a Sub-grantee of Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC), lead applicant for a national consortium of high-capacity, non-profit affordable housing developers, has been awarded a portion of $137,107,133 in federal funding to revitalize neighborhoods in eight (8) states and the District of Columbia that have been negatively impacted by foreclosures and abandoned properties.

All of the organizations that make up this consortium are members of the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB).    The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development selected the CPLC/ NALCAB Consortium under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program Round II (NSP II).

AHSTI will acquire and rehabilitate foreclosed properties in targeted areas throughout Hidalgo County. The rehabilitated homes are available for purchase to income eligible households who earn up to or below 120% of the Area Median Income as defined by HUD.
The outcome of the NSP2 program will be to provide decent, safe, energy efficient houses to eligible buyers and help stabilize neighborhoods as well as help increase the value of the neighboring homes and stimulate local economies.
